At Traditional Barns and Beams, we can build a wide range of barns to meet your precise specifications. Based on a Sussex Haywain barn, the basic single-bay style has a depth of 18 feet and a width of 12 feet with a clearance height of 8 feet. The mortise and tenon joints are held together with oak pegs. We lay a concrete base on which the foundation wall is built, and the cladding is of Waney-edged overlapped boards for a completely traditional look.
We also produce buildings using Douglas fir, a slow grown, long lasting softwood which is a more cost effective alternative to oak. Much of our Douglas Fir is milled in-house. All our structures are made to measure and as per client requirements. Feel free to contact us.
